Serving the Olympia School District:

Matt just started his twenty-sixth year in the Olympia School District.  He began his career as a social studies teacher and Vice Principal before becoming the Principal at OHS about fifteen years ago.

Growing up in Walla Walla, Matt comes from a family of educators and five generations of farmers.   Matt graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 1989 as a History Major and Math Minor.  He played tennis and ran cross-country in college.  Matt then attended Harvard University for graduate school receiving his masters in teaching in 1990 and administrative credentials in 1994.  Professionally, Matt is most proud of his students’ success and has received numerous awards for promoting social justice and diversity both in and out of the school.
