Academy Nominations

A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSMAN, DENNY HECK

One of my great privileges as a Member of Congress is to nominate the most qualified young men and women to the United States Service Academies. The academies offer students a top-notch education at some of the finest universities in the United States.

The nomination process is extremely competitive. Applicants should possess the highest level of scholastic ability, civic responsibility, and physical fitness. The rewards of an academy appointment are incredible. Appointees receive an outstanding college education worth approximately $500,000, as well as the opportunity to put the skills they acquire to work when they receive their commission upon graduation.

This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are many unique challenges facing applicants as they move through the nomination process.  Therefore, requirements have been changed to accommodate applicants during this unprecedented U.S. Service Academy nomination year. Please review my website for the latest information on how this year’s application process has been revised:  https://dennyheck.house.gov/ServiceAcademies

See the updated nomination package, as well as a sample of how applicants may now submit their packets via email.  The deadline for applications to be received by my Lacey district office is November 16, 2020. Qualified applicants will be scheduled for an interview via Zoom Meetings with my Academy Board on either December 7th or December 8th.

Each year I am impressed with the caliber and character of the applicants from our 10th district high schools. If you have any questions, please contact my Academy Coordinator, Rebecca Snyder at
 WA10.AcademyNominations@mail.house.gov or 202-740-2235.

Sincerely,

Denny Heck
Member of Congress
