Dear FamOly,

The week after spring break is always bittersweet (and often really hard getting back into the routine), but I think for me? The hardest part is knowing that this is the final push before summer and *REALLY* begins our season of Senior Celebrations! If senioritis hasn’t hit your student yet, don’t worry! It will be here before you know it!! We still have plenty of school left, so we all need to keep reminding ourselves it’s not too late and to keep our heads down and finish strong!

If your student needs help, remember that we have FREE Before/After School tutoring, our teachers are here 30 minute Before/After school and we have Bear Time on Friday. Almost all materials/notes are posted on Schoology so please refer your student there first - but remember! Skyward is the official gradebook for OHS! :-)

This week, we also welcomed in the OHS Class of 2030! That is always an exciting evening as we get to meet new (and returning) families! For me, it’s a reminder of how others see us and what we can do to make our *really big* school feel just a *wee* bit smaller for our new students!

One of the things that helps make us all feel more connected is to be involved! We have so many clubs, activities and athletic teams that everyone should find a place to shine! If you need some help making a connection, let me know! I’m happy to help find that place to make high school a better place to be!

I have quite a few things to share with you tonight, so I'm going to stop my rambling and let you get right to it!

~Wendy Rae, who is ready for some sunshine this weekend!

26-27 Bear Crew Applications!

The application for our 26-27 team of Bear Crew Leaders is now open!
Current sophomore and junior students looking for a leadership position that works to make strong connections at our school should consider applying to be one of our Bear Crew Leaders for the 2026-27 school year!

Bear Crew Leaders are trained to work with the incoming freshman class and other new students who are entering our school next fall. After the extensive training in August, the Bear Crew Leaders will work together to run freshman orientation. At the orientation, each Bear Crew Leader and their partner will be given a small group of freshmen to work with for that day and will be asked to help that group during the first weeks of school with any challenges they may face. Periodically during the school year, Bear Crew Leaders will meet again with their student groups to touch base, discuss problems, and plan social activities. We know that the more contact freshman have with their Bear Crew Leaders the more successful the freshman will be.

In order to participate in Bear Crew, students must be enrolled full-time at OHS.

Students can find a link to the application in their student email inbox.
