Your First OlyWay of 26-27!

For those of you new to Olympia High School, let me introduce myself! My name is Wendy Rae and I am Principal Matt Grant and Interim Principal Mallory Wilson's Administrative Assistant. My job (besides taking care of The Bosses) is to be a connection between you and our school. I will be sending you weekly emails, usually on a Friday, called “The OlyWay”. Hopefully, they will keep you updated about what’s happening (or will be happening) here at school, where your child spends a lot of time! The OlyWay has important upcoming dates/events/reminders and sometimes, just funny things that happened. My hope is to bridge that communication gap that *sometimes* occurs between parent and teen. You know, the one that goes like this:

Fast forward a few days/weeks/months... You come to find out that there was a special assembly with a famous guest speaker or perhaps there was a special Bear Time that told you how to schedule/sign up for classes for the following year!  My goal is to share with you what happened each week so you have the information you need to navigate high school! If your student is doing Running Start, please still skim through these emails as certain events/change in schedules might pertain to you, too!

 

I have graduated six amazing kids from OHS and have loved every minute of it! You can say that I ‘speak’ teen and I know that high school can be stressful (for both parent and student!). It doesn’t matter if this is your first walk through the halls of OHS or if this is your last; high school can be difficult to navigate and has it’s ups and downs! ;) One thing that I firmly believe in is that we are in this together! We are FamOly!

OHS has been pretty quiet this week with most of the building still out on summer break, but I wanted to share out our SUMMER STUDENT MAILER to you. Please click that link and read through this document and refer back to it as it has some VERY important information in it such as our Freshman & New Student Information details, information as to when you can check out your Chromebook and the very exciting date of just WHEN will the schedules be ready to officially view! I also attach it as a pdf but any updates will go on the live document!
