2020 OSD Healthcare Career Fair - March 21, 2020

Registration Link

You are invited March 21st at Olympia High School to share your professional knowledge and educational pathways in healthcare with students from across the Olympia School District in grades 6-12.

Would you be willing to participate in our community healthcare STEM event (science, technology, engineering and math) for the Olympia School District on Saturday March 21st? We are looking for medical volunteers to run hands-on booths that engage students around their healthcare field, each participant will have the opportunity to request student ambassadors to support you and your
demonstrations. STEM initiatives can nurture the next generation of healthcare providers in our community, from medical assistant positions, therapists, nutritionists, physicians, nurses, etc and are great learning events. Examples of activities have been done for this event in the past include ENT/sinus surgery, EKGs and AEDs, eye safety and vision, speech therapy, health informatics and medical imaging. We are looking to add on to this and involve all areas of the healthcare community. You or your group would be paired with a high school student(s) volunteer (Ambassadors) in advance to help you arrange and support the demonstration in your booth, which should make it easier and allow our medical professionals to discuss their field of expertise with interested students.
It is sure to be a fun and rewarding community event. STEM education offers a multitude of career opportunities beyond computer occupations and engineering. Exposure to science and healthcare professions can inspire students to pursue a variety of healthcare professions and/or STEM careers.
