Payments may be made at the preschool during business hours.  We accept cash, checks and credit cards .  PM parents: in order to have time to process our daily paperwork, we can only accept payments during drop-off times.

Drop off/pick up routine:  In accordance with Olympia School District security policies, Oly Bear Preschool adheres to the following drop-off and pick-up procedures.

The Hall 3 door is to remain locked throughout the day.  The exception to this will be from 8:10am-8:25am (AM preschool drop-off), 10:55am-11:10am (or when the last preschooler is picked up), 11:40am-12pm (PM drop-off) and 2:40-when the last PM preschooler is picked up.  Late arrivals and/or early pick-ups need to check in at the Olympia High School front desk.

We require that any person picking up a preschooler must be on the authorized pick up list.  Please be patient with us in the first few weeks as we get to know the faces and names that go with each of the preschooler’s.  If someone is picking up your child that we do not have authorization for please inform us when dropping off your child and have that person be prepared to show identification.

We require that students be signed in and out daily.

Registration/contact information:  Please make sure that you have filled out all registration and contact information prior to the first day of school.  The orientation day would be a great time to drop these off.  You are also able to bring them to the OHS main office to be put in our mailbox.  Don’t forget about your updated shot records.

Policies/Procedures: We follow all Olympia School district holidays and weather related procedures.  Due to high school testing/finals we will have additional pre-scheduled days off.  Thank you for your understanding. Oly Bear Preschool is not a licensed childcare facility. This means that each child is only permitted to attend one session during the school day. We are unable to accommodate children in both AM and PM classes.

Allergies: Please notify our staff in writing of any allergies.  If your child requires specific medical supplies (epi pen, etc) please make arrangements with Ms. Shelly for these to be brought in and stored for your child.  Oly Bear Preschool does not serve nuts for snack.  However, we cannot guarantee that snack items (crackers, etc) do not come from nut-free facilities.  Please see Ms. Shelly with any questions.

Allergen/Alternate Snack policy: Our preschoolers are served a nutritious snack daily.  If your preschooler has specific dietary needs, we ask that you provide an alternate snack for him/her.  Snacks may be brought in and stored in our kitchen.  In fairness to all our students, we ask that you refrain from sending “treat” type snacks (cookies, chips, etc) for your child’s snack.

Curriculum/Activities:  The unique setting that we have in Oly Bear provides tons of opportunities to build relationships with peers, high school students and teachers.  Each week we will be learning about a new letter.  Activities such as writing, singing, and arts and crafts will be created to reinforce the preschooler’s knowledge and understanding of that letter.  We also have a theme of the week.   The high school buddies help preschooler’s with art projects, crafts, science or math activities that correspond with the theme for the week.  The LETTER OF THE WEEK box is another way to reinforce learning at home.  Each child will be allowed to bring in a small show-and-tell each day that corresponds with the letter of the week.  Example-letter A-the preschooler might bring in an apple or toy alligator.  Only 1 item each day please.  These will be placed in the letter of the day box and shared during circle time.

SUPERSTAR:   Each week, beginning in October, we will have a Superstar.  This child will be the circle time helper for their designated week.  We will also send home a questionnaire and poster to share with the class.  During this week the Superstar will also be able to bring in a special show-and-tell of their choice.

Odds and Ends:   Find Oly Bear Preschool on Facebook and friend us!  We will post important dates and information.  Also check out the bulletin board near the sign-in area for other important information.

We will play outside (weather permitting) every day.  Please send your preschooler with appropriate clothing for the weather.  Rain boots and rain coats are encouraged.  Also, we get dirty!  Send your child in play clothes.  And please bring in a complete change of clothes for the unexpected accident.

All children must be completely potty trained before they may enter the Oly Bear program.  Also, please send children in clothes that they can manage themselves.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us!  We are very excited about the upcoming preschool year!
