After school appointments during Fall (football season) and Spring (baseball season) are limited due to my coaching responsibilities.
Other faculty members, our science staff as well as others, are often available to assist students after school if scheduled ahead of time.
I was born in Missoula, Montana and grew up in Salem, Oregon. I graduated from Sprague High School in 1986. I received a B.S. degree in Science Education from Oregon State University (Beavers) in 1991. After graduating I accepted a position at Yelm Middle School teaching science, while coaching football, basketball and baseball at Yelm High School. I received my Masters in Educational Technology through City University in 1995. I joined the Olympia High School staff teaching physical science and biology in 1996. I was the head girl's basketball coach my first 5 years, have been coaching baseball all 20 years (including taking over the program as head coach in 2013 after the passing of Todd McDougall), and have been a varsity assistant football coach since 2000. I met my wife, Jennie, at OSU. We have two children, both of whom attended McKenny Elementary, Caden is currently a 7th grader at WMS, and Kaylie is a junior at OHS. I enjoy coaching, golfing, movies, music, fishing, bicycling, attending sporting events and hanging out with friends and family. I have a passion for teaching science because our world (and technology) constantly challenges us to THINK, PROBLEM SOLVE and develop our best explanations to scientific phenomenon on our planet and in our universe. I enjoy learning WITH students as new science emerges!
