Grading:
Grades will be based on points earned on class participation, in-class and homework assignments, writing tasks, and tests. Below is a more detailed breakdown of the grading categories and percentages designated for this course, as they will be labeled on both Family Access (OHS’s web-accessible gradebooks) and printed progress reports throughout the school year:
Class Participation- 25% attendance, behavior, attitude, participation, etc.
Daily Assignment- 25% in-class assignments, homework, projects, notebook entries, etc.
Essay- 25% five-paragraph essays, formal writing assignments, etc.
Test- 25% lesson and unit quizzes/tests, semester finals
Late and Incomplete Work Policy:
Late work that is incomplete will not be accepted. If something is turned in and is not complete, it will be immediately returned to the student. Students may turn in late work, provided that it is complete, but a percentage of the total point value is lost each day an assignment is late. Work missed due to excused absences must be requested by the student either ahead of time or the day s/he returns to class—the teacher and student will establish a timeline for the completion of makeup work for full credit.
Expectations:
It is expected that students will be respectful and responsible in class every day while following all school district rules. If necessary, the OHS progressive discipline/attendance program will be implemented.
