Courses offered vary from year to year and are described in the course catalog.

Each year students at OHS register for their classes as a part of homeroom activities. The homeroom teacher is the student's first period teacher.  Should students need additional help, the appropriate counselor may be consulted. Incoming freshmen are computer scheduled for their first year after completing the subject selection form.

The subject selection process puts the student in charge of selecting classes to meet individual interests and needs; therefore, class schedule changes should not be necessary except during extreme circumstances. Necessary schedule changes should be handled with a counselor during the first ten class days of the first semester (first five days of second semester). Any withdrawal from a class after that time will result in the awarding of a withdrawal failure grade (WF) on the student's permanent record.

Registration Dates

Mid-April Students receive Subject Selection Sheet in homeroom, which includes a place for requests and alternates. An academic and elective showcase allows students to find out more information about classes.  Seniors will get their HS & Beyond Plan checked off by homeroom teacher then attend an important meeting in gym.

End of April Students return Subject Selection sheet to their homeroom teacher. Students who do not return their Subject Selection Sheets, will have their schedule selected for them by counselors. Seniors will attend an important meeting in commons.

Request to Drop or Change a Class (before school begins)

June or August -  After students receive their schedule for the upcoming school year, requests for Schedule Change Form will be available in the Counseling Center. Instructions for completing the form will be printed on it. It is not necessary to make an appointment with the Counselor. Return the completed Request for Schedule Change to the Counseling Center.
