The Olympia Scholar Program
The overall goal of the Olympia Scholar Program is to provide a
rigorous academic course of study to prepare high-achieving students
for university work. Although based on Advanced Placement and
honors courses, the program also encompasses other activities which
enhance a student's general background and preparation for higher
education. The program also encourages high levels of integration
of ideas and application of skills appropriate for this group of
students.
Students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses are
expected to complete the appropriate Advanced Placement Examinations
prepared by The College Board and administered nationally and
internationally in May of each year. These examinations are
graded at regional sites by selected college professors and Advanced
Placement teachers. Students earning a 3, 4, or 5 on the 1-5
scale of evaluation may be awarded college credit or advanced placement
when they enter the college of their choice.
Olympia Scholar Award
For students who wish to plan a challenging
high school program, Olympia High School offers the Olympia Scholar
Award given at graduation to those who meet the criteria.
Recipients receive a certificate and wear an Olympia Scholar Medallion
at their commencement ceremony in June.
