GRADING

Letter grades are given to students for their work in all classes at Olympia High Schools. Grades are given in six week intervals during the semester (progress reports) and only semester grades are retained on the official transcript. For specific dates each year, see the Calendar link. Semester grade report cards are held until all fines are paid.

All courses are weighted equally and included in class rank. Honors courses are not weighted for GPA by state statute. Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated on the following scale:

A = 4.0

A- = 3.7

B+= 3.3

B = 3.0

B-= 2.7

C+=2.3

C = 2.0

C-=1.7

D+=1.3

D = 1.0

F = 0

Other grade symbols:

P = Pass, no effect on GPA

S = Satisfactory effort expended, but student is unable to meet mimimum requirement

I = Incomplete, no effect on GPA

NC = No Credit, no effect on GPA

W = Withdrawal pass, no effect on GPA

WNC = Withdrawal, no credit, no effect on GPA

WF = Withdrawal, F grade
